Deputy Mayor Attends Haywards Heath Firefighters Open Day

On Saturday 20th June 2026, the Deputy Mayor of Haywards Heath attended the Firefighters Open Day, a popular community event held at the Fire Station and co-hosted by My Choice Children's Homes.


The family-friendly event brought together local residents, firefighters, volunteers and community organisations for a day of entertainment, activities and fundraising in support of local firefighters. Visitors had the opportunity to meet their local fire crews, get up close to fire engines and equipment, and learn more about the important work carried out by the Fire and Rescue Service.


Cllr Abdul Bashar, the Deputy Mayor, was delighted to take part in the day's activities and serving as a judge for the popular dog show. Throughout the event, families enjoyed a full programme of demonstrations, stalls, refreshments and entertainment, creating a lively atmosphere for visitors of all ages.

The Open Day provided an excellent opportunity for the community to engage with local firefighters, while also raising valuable funds and awareness for those who serve and protect the area. The event showcased the strong community spirit that exists within Haywards Heath and highlighted the importance of partnership working between local organisations.


The Deputy Mayor thanked the firefighters, My Choice Children's Homes, volunteers and organisers for their hard work in delivering such a successful event and praised everyone involved for creating an enjoyable day for families while supporting a worthy cause.
