REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY

Sunday 9th November 2025

The annual Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade was held on Sunday, 10th November, at the War Memorial on Muster Green, bringing the community together to honour those who served and sacrificed for our freedom.

The service commenced shortly after 10:45 AM, with a solemn two-minute silence at 11:00 AM. It was led by Father Edward Pritchett, Rector of St Wilfrid’s Church, and attended by the Deputy Lieutenant of West Sussex, the Town Mayor, local dignitaries and councillors, members of the armed forces, the Royal British Legion, youth organisations, community groups, and residents.

Following the service, a moving parade took place, led by 172 Squadron, featuring veterans, service personnel, and youth organisations. The procession departed from Muster Green and made its way to the Town Hall, with participants marching in unison as a mark of respect and remembrance.

During the service, Charles Solomon of the Royal British Legion delivered the Exhortation and Kohima Address, while the Haywards Heath Concert Band provided music for the hymns and performed the Last Post and Reveille.

Wreaths were laid by representatives from the Deputy Lieutenant of West Sussex, the Town Mayor, the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner- Katy Bourne, the Mid Sussex MP- Alison Bennett, the armed forces, the Royal British Legion, youth organisations, and numerous local groups. Each wreath symbolised the community’s deep gratitude and enduring remembrance of those who gave their lives in service.

The event served as a poignant reminder of the courage and dedication of our armed forces, past and present, and united the town in a shared moment of reflection and respect.

Thank you to the Haywards Heath community for turning out in such numbers to pay tribute.
We will remember them.
