Mayor Taps First Beer at Hop Sun’s Hoptoberfest
The Mayor of Haywards Heath joined the Hop Sun on Thursday 24 September to officially open Hoptoberfest, tapping the ceremonial first beer in a nod to the famous Oktoberfest tradition in Munich.
The special event celebrated lager and German beer, while also shining a light on the local hospitality industry and some of the challenges currently facing businesses across the sector. Cllr Duncan Pascoe, the Town Mayor, was invited to take on the traditional role of tapping the first barrel, bringing a little Bavarian tradition to Haywards Heath.
The event also helped raise money for the Mayor’s Charity of the Year, Kangaroos, which supports children and adults with learning disabilities across Mid Sussex. Funds raised through the event will contribute towards the charity’s work helping people develop skills, build friendships and live more independently.
The Mayor was delighted to support Hop Sun’s Hoptoberfest, taking part in the ceremonial first beer while helping to raise awareness of both the challenges and opportunities facing the local hospitality industry and the fantastic work of Kangaroos.
