From 26–28 June 2026, the Mayor of Haywards Heath took part in Sussex RunFest, a celebration of running, fitness and wellbeing that brought together people of all ages and abilities for a weekend packed with activity, inspiration and community spirit.
Officially starting at The Hop Sun, the Mayor declared Sussex RunFest open with a short speech before cutting the ceremonial ribbon. Participants in the Rave Run then headed straight through the ribbon to begin their run, creating a fantastic atmosphere and providing an energetic start to the weekend's celebrations.
The event welcomed runners and fitness enthusiasts from across the region, offering a varied programme designed to appeal to experienced athletes, beginners and those simply looking to lead a more active lifestyle. Whether participants enjoyed trail running, road running, improving their fitness or meeting like-minded people, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Throughout the weekend, attendees were able to take part in trail and road runs, strength and conditioning sessions, and yoga and mobility classes specifically designed for runners. The programme also included inspirational guest speakers, practical workshops, and specialist clinics covering coaching, injury prevention and nutrition.
Alongside the sporting activities, Sussex RunFest featured music, games, challenges and social events, creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that encouraged participants to connect, share experiences and celebrate their achievements.
The Mayor, Cllr Duncan Pascoe, was pleased to support and participate in the event, recognising the important role that sport and physical activity play in promoting health, wellbeing and community engagement. Events such as Sussex RunFest not only encourage people to stay active but also provide valuable opportunities to bring communities together through a shared sense of achievement and enjoyment.
Cllr Pascoe congratulated the organisers, volunteers and participants on delivering a successful and inspiring weekend and thanked everyone involved for helping to create such a positive and inclusive event.
