Mayor Attends Sussex Young Musician of the Year Final

On Saturday 11th July 2026, the Mayor of Haywards Heath attended the Sussex Young Musician of the Year Final, held at St Wilfrid's Church as part of Coro Nuovo's Summer Concert.
The prestigious competition showcased the exceptional talents of three young musicians, all aged between 18 and 26, who are studying for, or planning to pursue, careers in music. Finalists performed before an audience and a distinguished adjudicator, Stephen Maddock OBE, Principal of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Cllr Duncan Pascoe, the Mayor of Haywards Heath, was delighted to witness such a high standard of musical performance and congratulated all three finalists on reaching the final of the competition. He praised their dedication, talent and commitment to their chosen craft, recognising the importance of supporting young musicians as they develop their careers.
Congratulations were extended to this year's winner, flautist Juliet Beadle, who received the top prize of £2,500. Dorothy Whyte-Venables, a soprano, was named runner-up and awarded £1,500, while clarinettist Edelyn Spina received £750 as the third finalist.
The Mayor also thanked Coro Nuovo for organising another successful competition and concert, providing an invaluable platform for emerging musical talent and enriching Haywards Heath's cultural life.
