Mayor Attends First 5K Your Way Event in Haywards Heath
On Saturday 29th August 2026, the Mayor of Haywards Heath attended the first Haywards Heath 5K Your Way, Move Against Cancer event at Clair Parkrun, supporting the launch of a new local community group.

5K Your Way, Move Against Cancer is a community-based initiative encouraging people living with and beyond cancer, their families and friends, and those working in cancer services to walk, jog, run, cheer or volunteer together at local parkrun events on the last Saturday of each month.
Cllr Duncan Pascoe, the Town Mayor, joined participants for the inaugural event before heading to a nearby café for a coffee and chat. The group provides a welcoming and supportive opportunity for people to be active together, meet others with shared experiences and enjoy the social side of taking part in parkrun.
The new Haywards Heath group has been made possible in part thanks to support from Haywards Heath Town Council, which awarded a £1,000 grant to MOVE Against Cancer Charity in June 2026 towards the group's start-up costs.
The Mayor was delighted to support the group's first event and meet participants, volunteers and organisers. He praised the initiative for creating an inclusive space where people affected by cancer can come together, take part at their own pace and support one another.
The Mayor wished the Haywards Heath group every success as it becomes established in the local community and encouraged anyone who may benefit from the group to come along and get involved.
