On Friday, 27th March, the local community came together to celebrate a significant milestone with the grand opening of Woodlands Meed College. The special event marked the completion of the college’s new facilities and offered a warm invitation for the community to come and explore all that the site has to offer.
The day began with a Community Opening Ceremony, led by Headteacher Adam Rowland, followed by a plaque unveiling to officially commemorate the occasion. Guests were then treated to a delightful afternoon of tea and cake, thoughtfully served by the students themselves, adding a personal and welcoming touch to the celebrations.
Attendees were invited to take guided tours of the college, showcasing its modern facilities and learning spaces. The event provided a wonderful opportunity not only to see the completed building but also to connect with staff, students, old friends, and new faces, as well as network with local community organisations and supporters.
The occasion was attended by the Haywards Heath Town Mayor and Deputy Town Mayor, representing the many students from the town who attend the college. They were joined by a number of distinguished guests, including the Mayor of Burgess Hill, the Deputy Chair of Mid Sussex District Council, Alison Bennett MP, and Mims Davis MP.
The grand opening was a fitting celebration of the college’s achievements and its important role within the community, highlighting the strong partnerships that continue to support its students and future development.
