On Sunday 28th June 2026, the Mayor of Haywards Heath attended the Girlguiding Sussex Central County Awards Afternoon, held at the South of England Showground, to celebrate the achievements of young members and adult volunteers from across the county.

The event brought together Guides, leaders, volunteers and supporters for an afternoon dedicated to recognising commitment, personal development and outstanding contributions to Girlguiding. Awards were presented to individuals who have demonstrated dedication, leadership and service within their local units and the wider organisation.

Cllr Duncan Pascoe, the Town Mayor, was delighted to join the celebrations and witness the many achievements of the young people involved. He praised the enthusiasm, confidence and resilience shown by Girlguiding members and recognised the vital role that the organisation plays in helping girls and young women develop skills, build friendships and realise their potential.

The event also provided an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication of the adult volunteers who give their time and energy to supporting Girlguiding activities throughout the year. Their commitment helps create opportunities for young people to learn new skills, take on challenges and contribute positively to their communities.

The Mayor congratulated all award recipients and thanked the volunteers, leaders and organisers for their hard work in making the afternoon such a memorable occasion. He noted that the awards were a fitting celebration of the positive impact Girlguiding continues to have on the lives of young people across Sussex.
