Cllr Abdul Bashar, the Deputy Mayor, opened the evening by welcoming guests to the Town Hall and highlighting the importance of community engagement and respectful dialogue on matters that affect people across the world and within local communities.

Attendees then heard from a range of speakers and panellists who shared their knowledge, experiences and perspectives, providing valuable insights into the challenges faced by refugees and the importance of supporting those seeking safety and a new beginning.

The Deputy Mayor thanked Amnesty International and everyone involved in organising the event for creating an opportunity to learn, reflect and engage in meaningful discussion during Refugee Week.
