The event brought together a wide range of organisations and community groups dedicated to supporting people living with dementia, alongside their families and carers. In his remarks, Cllr Bashar spoke about the importance of community support, raising awareness of dementia, and ensuring carers and residents know where they can turn for help and guidance.

A particularly thoughtful part of the event was the support offered by Good Oaks Home Care, who kindly volunteered to look after dementia patients while their carers had the opportunity to speak with organisations attending the event and learn more about the services available to them.

The morning began with an introduction from Val, Chairman of the Mid Sussex Older People’s Council, before the Deputy Mayor addressed attendees. Representatives from Alzheimer's Society then gave a presentation and answered questions from guests, followed by a talk from the Age UK dementia team. Additional introductions and information were provided by Wakehurst Dementia Walks, Carers Support and other attending groups before guests enjoyed lunch and the opportunity to speak informally with stand holders.

Organisations attending the event included Raise Your Voice, Sussex Police, West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, Brighton & Hove Buses, TuVida and Keymer Hall Care Home, all of whom were available throughout the day to offer advice, support, and information.

The event highlighted the strength of partnership working across Mid Sussex and provided a valuable opportunity for residents and carers to connect with local organisations in a welcoming and supportive environment. Thank you to all who attended.
