On Thursday 23rd July, the Deputy Mayor of Haywards Heath attended the monthly coffee meetup organised by Age UK at Lamb House, joining residents from local residential homes for an afternoon of conversation, support and companionship.
The Deputy Mayor, Cllr Abdul Bashar, was invited to give a speech during the event and enjoyed meeting attendees and hearing about the important support provided to people living with dementia and their families. The coffee afternoon offers a welcoming opportunity for residents to come together, socialise and enjoy time with others in a friendly and supportive environment.
The Deputy Mayor praised Age UK and everyone involved in organising the regular coffee afternoons, recognising the valuable role these events play in helping to reduce isolation and create a sense of community for people living with dementia and those around them.
He thanked the organisers, staff and volunteers for their continued dedication and for creating such a warm and welcoming space for local residents to meet, connect and enjoy each other's company.
