Sussex is a beautiful countryside to traverse and there are many fantastic runs and clubs in the County. Haywards Heath is fortunate to be home to the largest Athletics Club in Mid Sussex, the Haywards Heath Harriers, with over 300 members. The club has been around for a long time and was the place that our lovely Olympian, Daly Thompson, first got into athletics. The Town is also part of the Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend, boasting the Haywards Heath 10 mile challenge as part of this 26.2 mile challenge. The Mid Sussex Marathon will be returning for its 12th year in 2023. There is a weekly Parkrun in Clair Park (5k) and a Junior Parkrun.
Sussex is home to some striking countryside with trails at all levels for runners. The South Downs Way and runs through the High Weald and along the coast are some of the most beautiful but there are many smaller and less challenging runs through historic towns and country parks and woodlands. There are many marathons, half marathons and fun runs across Sussex and a variety of running clubs from beginners through to endurance running and racing.
