The Mayor of Haywards Heath and consort, Margaret Baker had a wonderful evening as Sussex Chorus performed Dvorak’s Stabat Matar at St Andrew’s Church in Burgess Hill.

Cllr Howard Mundin, Town Mayor of Haywards Heath, comments:

Margaret and I were treated to a fabulous evening of music, with Dvorak’s moving Stabat Matar giving a brilliant extended setting for vocal soloists, choirs and orchestras. The venue resounded with the amazing voices of soprano Zita Syme and heldentenor Charne Rochford in duet, plus mezzo-soprano Frances Gregory and baritone Andrew Davies, with each soloist taking their own moment in the spotlight and the harmonious Sussex Choir giving a rousing performance accompanied by the Kent Sinfonia. What a fantastic choir full of stunning talent we are so fortunate to have locally.

It was wonderful to be able to chat to the Choir members after the performance and I would like to thank John Welch, Chairman of Sussex Chorus, Stephen Brown the amazing conductor and each member of Sussex Chorus and the Kent Sinfonia who provided such a joyous musical evening.”

The concert was also attended by the Chairman of Mid Sussex District Council and the Mayor of Burgess Hill, Cllr Adam Peacock.
