Twelve teams came together at Haywards Heath Town Hall on Friday 16th October for the Mayor’s Charity Quiz Night, enjoying an evening of friendly competition, food and fundraising in support of Kangaroos Mid Sussex, the Mayor’s charity of the year. The event raised an incredible total of over £1400, helping the charity continue its valuable work supporting children and adults with learning disabilities across the local community.

Local businesses are invited to bring a little extra sparkle to Haywards Heath this Christmas by taking part in the Town Council’s Best Dressed Window Competition.

Haywards Heath’s gardening enthusiasts have been putting their green fingers to work, helping to brighten the town through their carefully tended gardens, productive allotments and welcoming communal spaces.

Residents turned out to explore practical ways to live more sustainably at the first New Leaf event, held at Haywards Heath Town Hall on Saturday 24 October.

It is with great sadness we announce Haywards Heath Town Councillor, Anthony Platts, passed away on 21 October 2026.

Councillor Platts served the residents of Haywards Heath, following his election in 2023, with dedication, integrity and a strong commitment to the local community. Throughout his time on the Council, he made a valuable contribution to the work of the Council and to the life of the town frequently helping at events and serving on both the Planning Committee and Full Council.

Haywards Heath Town Mayor, Councillor Pascoe, said: "On behalf of Haywards Heath Town Council, I would like to express our sincere condolences to Councillor Platts’ family, friends and loved ones. He was a respected colleague who cared deeply about the community he represented. Anthony's contribution to the town will be remembered with gratitude and he will be greatly missed."

The thoughts of councillors and staff are with Councillor Platt's family and friends at this very difficult time.

Further information regarding funeral arrangements and any opportunities for residents to pay their respects will be shared in due course, subject to the wishes of the family.
