Mayor officially opens new artisan Farm Shops and Country Store in Haywards Heath

Haywards Heath’s Town Mayor, together with local MP and Minister for Employment, Mims Davies, were particularly delighted to open the new family owned and run farm shop and café in South Road. Hart Country Store is full of fantastic food and drink from Sussex, the United Kingdom and complemented by a delicatessen containing food from around the world.

Cllr Mundin comments:

“I have been highly impressed with the remarkable level of business planning and detail that has been put into the creation of Hart Country Store by Christian, Daryl and their family. In our Town Council planning for the future of Haywards Heath, it has been noted that a particular type of artisanal, individual and unique retail offering for our community was needed to restore vitality to the High Street. The opening of this Country Store goes a long way to putting this right and it is fantastic to see another new business opening in our Town, providing residents with wonderful local produce, support for local suppliers and offering further employment opportunities locally.

Another wonderful aspect of this opening is the true family involvement of this business and a sincere willingness to embrace our community locally. I wish Christian, Daryl and the Hart Country Store every success in this venture and I am sure the residents of our Town will support this fabulous new destination!”

Hart Country Stores is the brainchild of Christian Harris and his partner Daryl Ruse, together with help from Daryl’s mum Susan. Christian’s dad and brother, John and Jonathan, also manage a family farm near Wales and will be providing some of the produce for the store.

Christian adds

“We are very environmentally friendly and keen to support the local economy by sourcing many of our items as locally as possible. We also detest single use plastic and aim to minimise its use as much as possible, starting with the introduction of our gravity feed bin, where you can bring your own containers and refill with the finest foods from near and far. We very much look forward to giving the people of Mid Sussex the very best that Britain has to offer and look forward to seeing you soon.”
