Haywards Heath Covid-19 Mutual Aid Group
Please note our telephone lines are open from 8am to 6pm. Tel 01444 635002 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
We are a group of volunteers (nearly 700 and growing) who have come together to support the local community, specifically those individuals and families who are isolating, high risk or shielding during this crisis time, working with Haywards Heath Town Council, community groups and other agencies to achieve this. We can carry out jobs such as shopping, picking up prescriptions, provide a friendly phone call or contact other agencies who may offer support like Age UK or mental health groups.
We have created this group so we can all look after each other in the community, during this crisis time.
Working with Haywards Heath Town Council, community groups and volunteers we provide support to families or individuals who have no other support during these uncertain times with things like shopping, collecting prescriptions, a friendly phone call or contact with other agencies like Age UK or mental health groups.
NEWS - How we are doing: 20th April
Since our group started taking requests on 20th March, we have helped nearly 600 households, with shopping, picking up prescriptions and other small jobs that our vulnerable or self-isolating neighbours are unable to do themselves - A massive achievement - well done and a huge THANK YOU to all our volunteers that have helped so far..
Together with Haywards Heath Town Council and Age UK West Sussex Brighton and Hove, we have launched the Haywards Heath Emergency Food Hub. The ‘Emergency Food Hub’ will provide food to families that the Haywards Heath Foodbank cannot reach due to capacity, and those who find themselves (in the first instance) outside of the referral system.
WE URGENTLY REQUIRE EXTRA FUNDING to continue our good work - please see our funding section below on how we use this funding and how to donate.
If you need help because you are vulnerable, elderly or self isolating please email email@example.com
Due to the high numbers of volunteers that have come forward we have had to put a temporary hold on recruiting new members. If you would like to offer your services as a volunteer, please contact Mid Sussex Voluntary Action www.msva.org.uk
Fundraising to support our Mutual Aid Group and Emergency Food Hub
We now have a GoFundMe page. We are hoping to raise as much funds as possible so that we can continue to provide the support that we do, for example running telephone lines for easy access for the community, supporting the Emergency Food Hub and ensuring we can continue to deliver to those in need for the longer term whilst the Country is in lockdown and beyond.
We thank you all for your support so far and if you are able to help us fundraise too that would be amazing. To find out more about us, visit our Facebook page by clicking here.

Volunteer ID Cards
Our Volunteers now carry an ID card when carrying out requests on behalf of HH Covid-29 Mutual aid. This will have the volunteers name on and will need to be used in conjunction with their own photo ID. This will allow volunteers from our group to identify themselves to the people we are provide for if necessary.
