Haywards Heath Cemetery

Haywards Heath Town Council is the burial authority for Haywards Heath and operates an attractive cemetery in Western Road. Within the cemetery grounds there are separate sections for interments of different denominations, an area for children and the Garden of Remembrance for cremated remains.

Allotments

Keeping an allotment is becoming an increasingly popular pastime. Whether it’s something to fill your spare time, follow your interest in gardening – or the desire to grow your own vegetables - there is no doubt that the demand for plots of land is increasing every year.

Haywards Heath Town Council owns four allotment sites in the Town, namely, America Lane, Vale Road,Oathall Avenue and Summerhill Lane. America Lane and Oathall Avenue are managed by the Town Council with Vale Road and Summerhill Lane being managed by independent allotment associations.

Anyone taking on an allotment plot is required to adhere to a set of rules governing what the allotment can be used for and the standard to which the plot must be maintained. A tenancy agreement which covers all of these items is signed at the time you take over the plot.

Concessionary Travel Schemes:

Bus Pass

At the Town Council you can apply for an English National Bus Concession. To do this you must be a permanent resident in Mid Sussex, be of eligible age or over or have an eligible disability. To apply for a bus pass you must bring along with you a passport sized photo, evidence of your date of birth and your permanent home address. If you are applying on the grounds of disability a form will need to be completed by your doctor to certify your eligibility.

Rail Voucher

You can also apply for a senior railcard voucher at the Town Council. Mid Sussex District Council offers a 15% discount on the £28.00 cost of a railcard voucher, and, for residents of Haywards Heath, the Town Council offers a further subsidy of £4.00 which means that the railcard voucher for Haywards Heath residents is £19.80. To apply for a railcard voucher you must bring along evidence of your date of birth and your permanent home address in Haywards Heath. Please note that we do not have facilities to accept payment by debit or credit card; only cheques or cash will be accepted.

From 1st April 2011 you have the choice of a free national bus pass and pay £19.80 for a subsidised railcard voucher, or if you do not want a free national bus pass, you can have a free railcard voucher. If you already have a free national bus pass and wish to obtain a free railcard voucher, your bus pass will need to be surrendered before the free railcard voucher can be issued.

Once you receive your railcard voucher from us you can take it to the station to exchange it for your railcard.
