ITV Weatherman, Alex Beresford comes to America Lane Allotments to discuss the effect of the hosepipe van

ITV weatherman Alex Beresford and a crew from ITV filmed last night’s weather show from the allotment in Haywards Heath to highlight the effect of the forthcoming hosepipe ban on residents and allotment holders. Alex was met by Murray Crump from the Haywards Heath Allotments Forum and Maria Horne from Haywards Heath Town Council and was interested to learn how the ban will not only make it difficult for all the residents who grow fruit and vegetables there, but the local Bentswood Food Larder who regularly receive food from the allotment holders to help those in need in the community.

Maria says: The hot weather we have experienced this Summer and record low rainfall in July is already drying out gardens and plots, so it was lovely of Alex and the crew from ITV to help us highlight how our residents will struggle with this hosepipe ban. He pointed out that with the rising cost of living and no rain forecast in the near future, members of our community who rely on their gardens and allotments to provide food for their families will find this ban particularly hard. Haywards Heath Town Council is working closely with the Allotments Forum members to monitor this situation.
