HHTC & the community prepare for the SOUTH & SOUTH EAST IN BLOOM Competition!

Published: 04 July 2022

Haywards Heath Town Council is entering this year’s South & South East IN BLOOM competition, in addition to holding its own annual Haywards Heath IN BLOOM Garden Competition!

The Council is entering South & south East IN BLOOM as it encourages towns and communities to celebrate the joys of flowers, planting and care of green spaces, something this town is exceptionally good at. Additionally, this competition is not all about floral displays and hanging baskets, it spreads the strong message about the importance of caring for our environment and showcasing the amazing volunteers who help maintain our beautiful outdoor spaces.

Chair of Haywards Heath IN BLOOM, Cllr Sandy Ellis comments:

Haywards Heath has an army of volunteers who strive to protect our nature reserves, community gardens, parks and open spaces in the town through the dedication of friends’ groups.

Schools, churches, religious groups, our local businesses and organisations actively support our Haywards Heath IN BLOOM initiatives which form part of our entry into South & South East IN BLOOM competition and their documented hard work is glorified in our Haywards Heath judges’ portfolios, providing evidence of our civic pride in our town and showing what a lovely place Haywards heath is to live in, work in and to visit.

Alongside this competition we also hold our own Haywards Heath IN BLOOM competition, where we recognise how front gardens, allotments, business fronts and community spaces are cared for so they look wonderful for our residents, visitors and our wild life.

Our floral displays and green spaces are so good for our health and wellness but they can provide essential shelter and food for our wildlife too! Please enter your gardens, balconies, shop fronts or community spaces, we would love to recognise and share your gardening/greening projects with our town. You could also be part of our IN BLOOM celebrations as all winners will be invited for hospitality at the Town Hall to pay thanks for your care and commitment in making our town so blooming lovely.”

Residents and businesses wishing to enter the Haywards Heath IN BLOOM competition can do so by completing the entry form available for download on the Town Council’s website or for collection from the Town Hall. You can additionally email your request to enter to brenda.gulliver@haywardsheath.gov.uk. The deadline for entries for the Haywards Heath IN BLOOM competition is 17th July 2022.

Sandy continues:

We are so very excited about our entry into South & South East IN BLOOM this year and I would like to say a tremendous thank you to our brilliant grounds staff. Their hard work and dedication have helped our town achieve the highest awards for their outstanding maintenance of our green corridors, cemetery and our jewel in our crown, our beloved Muster Green.

It is truly wonderful to see our town looking for glorious and colourful at this time of year, so go on, enter your green/garden project into our Haywards Heath IN BLOOM competition. We look forward to receiving your entries soon.”
