Mayoral Team to run Mayor’s Marathon around Haywards Heath for Time4Children Charity!

The Mayor of Haywards Heath together, with the Deputy Mayor and Town Clerk of Haywards Heath Town Council are set to run a Mayor’s Marathon around Haywards Heath to raise money for the Mayor’s charity, Time4Children.

The Town Trio, comprised of Haywards Heath Town Mayor, Cllr Alastair McPherson, Deputy Mayor, Cllr Matt Jeffers and Town Clerk, Steve Trice, are all busy in training for gruelling event around the Town to help Time4Children, who like many small charities, have struggled with their usual fund raising during the pandemic. Money raised from the Mayor’s Marathon will help train the dedicated volunteers who provide one on one emotional listening support to local children.

Cllr Alastair McPherson, Town Mayor of Haywards Heath Town Council comments:

“We are proud to be running the Mayor’s Marathon for such an important local charity. Time4Children is a small charity that I know very well and who do brilliant work to support children locally. Especially at this time, where the pandemic has hugely impacted the emotional well-being of some of our children, Time4Children can provide them with the time to explore and voice their feelings, at their own pace, in a safe environment. The support that Time4Children can give our children helps them to build their emotional resilience, their self-esteem and their self-confidence. I find the charity’s work so inspiring and because they are local, it means a lot to us to be able to help them in this way. Please do support us in our Mayor’s Marathon and help us raise funds for my wonderful Mayoral charity.”

The Haywards Heath Town Trio will follow the format of the Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend, taking on the gruelling 26 Mile challenge over the course of 3 days in April.
